Edit: v1.12.00 has been released
See the Gmail Error thread for history on this. I'm about half way through writing a custom Gmail API that will replace the official Google Greasemonkey API in the add-on (or at least the parts of the official API that are broken). This means that I may actually have a working solution by next week or the week after depending on my schedule, but things are definitely looking up, and it's nice not to feel so dependent on Google to get their end fixed. Thanks to all those who have donated recently for keeping me motivated to tackle this! ... I suppose being as frustrated as all of you are with not being able to use the add-on has motivated me as well. Anyway, just wanted to keep everyone posted. The other good news is that my coding skills and understanding of the way scope applies to Firefox add-ons has greatly improved since I write v1.11.x. Version 1.11.13 (the version Google broke -- a lot) was just a quick patch to old code, but I'm completely rewriting the code base for v1.14.x. Expect the new release to be much more stable and use less memory. I know I say that with every release, but for once it should be pretty darn true. Last edited Feb. 12, 2010 - 7:49am by Jerome

Major snow storm here in Virginia. Everything's closed. I'll be able to get a lot of work done on the add-on assuming the power stays on. ;-) |

Everything's coming along nicely, but it just takes time. I'm basically rewriting the entire add-on to correct the instabilities found in previous versions. Sorry for the delay, and please bear with me. Should be a few more days. |

Blank Canvas has also helped in my exodus from outlook without ever looking back. Thanks much Jerome for this fantastic add-on and hang in there during the storm -- I have some friends that live in that area that have gone a few days without electricity. |

Most add-ons are cutesy conveniences that add a little fun to the internet experience. But, Blank Canvas GM Signatures is a must have! I use about a dozen email addresses and need a signature for each. BC is the only one that truly is the best, (when Google lets it) Therefore, I'm not waiting for the fix to happen then make a donation...I'm making it now in the hopes that it will inspire the creator to continue his efforts in this much needed program. Thanks again for your time and efforts Jerome! We look forward to the next working version of Gmail signatures. Tim |

Got everything done except for the options box and update checking. I hope to finish it tomorrow, and will test for a day or two before putting out an official release, so look for an update by the end of the week. :-) |

Hooray! Yea!!! Blank Canvas signatures are back!!! Just re-started FF and much to my surprise, there was a new version waiting to load. .. and it works beautifullly!!!! Thank you, thank you! I'm not one to donate (ever) for free software, but sending some beer money. Didn't know how much I depended on this add-in ( 5 accounts) until it was gone. |

I was stoked to find FF prompting me for a new update! I was sad to find a repeating error prompt that would not go away (I had to click OK and quickly close my Gmail tab). I got a screen grab of the error I can send in (tell me where). I new there was a new version of FF out (I was on 3.5.7) so I uninstalled BC, upgraded FF (3.6), and tried reinstalling BC but this time it wouldn't even install. I'm on a Mac (10.4.11). I am wondering if anyone else is seeing this or if there is a work around? |

Good news - new add in works (yea!) Bad news - for me at least, it breaks the Google toolbar - search box missing along with all but a few buttons :( Sorry to bear bad news. Let me know if I need to provide more info.

Same error here. Using FF 3.0.17 on Ubuntu 9.04. Had to disable the addon, since it completely blocks firefox, as the message keeps appearing every time I click OK. |
